Gamelan Gunung Biru
Western Carolina University’s “Venerable Blue Mountain” gamelan degung—built in Java in 2002—is a rare bronze percussion ensemble tuned in a traditional 5-tone Sundanese scale. It serves as the heart of WCU’s Low Tech Ensemble, bringing the vibrant sounds of Indonesian music to the Blue Ridge Mountains and beyond.
